It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news of Morton Township High School Alumnus, Bill Schick’s passing. Bill fought a courageous battle with cancer, but unfortunately lost the battle on Tuesday, 12th April 2023. He left behind his family who will forever miss him dearly. The news of his passing spread throughout various publications on social media, and those who knew Bill have been left heartbroken. Although his physical presence may be gone, his memories will live on forever. Bill’s impact on the Morton Township High School community and beyond will not be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

Who was Bill Schick ?

Bill Schick was a truly remarkable person who left everyone he met feeling uplifted and full of respect. Born in Peoria, Illinois in 1958, he was the son of John and Pauline “Dolly” Schick of Morton, Illinois. Bill’s infectious optimism and upbeat attitude were impossible not to notice, and spending time with him was always a joy. His positive energy was contagious, leaving everyone he interacted with feeling full of awe and inspiration. He was certainly a beacon of light to many, and anyone who had the pleasure of conversing with him felt incredibly fortunate. Bill was truly one of a kind, and his presence will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Bill and Joan Hoerr’s marriage is one for the books. The two embarked on countless adventures throughout their journey together, all guided by their faith in the Lord. From the moment they said “I do” on June 11, 1978, to now, their love has only continued to deepened. Together, they have been blessed with a beautiful and mighty family, consisting of 16 children who have all grown into incredible adults. From Peoria to Magdalena, MX, their children have spread their wings and built beautiful lives of their own. Their family is now filled with the laughter and joy of 19 grandchildren, creating an even larger community filled with love and connectedness. Bill and Joan’s legacy will undoubtedly continue on for generations to come.

Funeral and visitation

Funeral service for Bill, a cherished member of our community, to be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at the Peoria Apostolic Christian Church. Bill touched the lives of many, and we invite all who knew and loved him to attend this service in his honor. The visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 14, at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home, located on 2408 W. Willow Knolls Drive, Peoria, IL 61614. Those who wish to pay their respects may also visit from 9 to 9:45 a.m., preceding the funeral service. Bill’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
